Our History
If you’re reading this, it’s because you’d like to know who’s behind TRAN TRAN and how the idea came about.
Our story is a simple one: we are two friends (Miriam and Pilar) who, after long careers in our respective fields, both felt the need for a change of direction.
Miriam has spent the last ten years of her career in the world of flamenco, and Pilar balanced administrative work at a multinational company with her passion for belly dancing
And so, one fine day, we decided to leave it all behind and take some time to look for new projects to focus on.
What encouraged us to take the first step?
During that period of reflection, our steps led us, quite by chance, to an international trade show where we discovered a world of possibilities in the field of footwear manufacturing.
This visit sparked an idea in Miriam—who was well aware of the need for comfort and a “sporty” style that customers had been expressing to her for years—that led us to consider creating a new type of flamenco shoe.
The goal is to offer an option that helps minimize the injuries and health issues experienced by flamenco dancers. Far from discouraging us, professionals in the industry saw it as feasible to combine the comfort of a sneaker with the distinctive features that define the flamenco shoe.
And why not include costumes as well? We realized that people who are passionate about dance, yoga, and so on share certain habits, interests, and tastes related to the discipline we practice—one that, in a way, defines us. We demand high-quality clothing—both in terms of fabrics and craftsmanship—that is stylish and versatile, while also ensuring respect for the planet and for the people involved in its production.
All of this inspired us to create clothing that makes you feel and look your best both in and out of class, with the hope of bringing the magic of dance to every moment of life.
How did we manage to do all this?
Well, I’m a little nervous, but really excited.
The truth is, it has turned out to be a wonderful journey, filled with people who have helped, encouraged, and inspired us to take on this small but significant challenge.
OUR “COMPANY”
We don’t “dance” alone—far from it.
TRAN TRAN was founded with the goal of becoming a family-owned business.
From the very beginning, we’ve had the support and cooperation of our nephews. They’re now around 18 years old and are training with great enthusiasm for this project; they are the youth and the driving force behind us.
And if we’ve managed to make beauty and style compatible with total comfort, it’s thanks to the people who believed in our project and set to work on it with enthusiasm and faith: David, Sol, Conchi, Manolo, and Lucas, who, like choreographers, bring our ideas to life and develop them to create magic.
“AL TRAN TRAN”
Our dream is to bring beauty, comfort, and innovation to the lives of all those who carry dance in their hearts—whether they dance in the studio or outside of it, whether they are professionals or amateurs.
We always look ahead without losing sight of where we came from. Our goal is for Tran Tran to represent an evolution in the manufacturing of dance footwear and apparel while preserving its essence—making it more comfortable, healthy, versatile, and sporty. At the same time, we’re rooted in the manufacturing and consumption practices that predate the “fast-fashion” craze, and we want to be an alternative for those who choose to shop mindfully.
We aim to do all of this while respecting people, traditions, and the planet, and in accordance with our principles: quality, empathy, responsibility, and commitment.
TRAN TRAN brings to mind the joy of “tirititrantrantran” and inspires rhythm and movement.
In turn, “al trantran” is an old expression that means taking your time, doing things at your own pace, taking the time each task requires, taking time to think, and doing things your own way…
This philosophy defines how we want to do everything: slowly, well, and joyfully, a reflection of how we’d like life to be. Does this resonate with you?
